Crowns, Bridges, and Dentures: Restoring Bite, Speech, and Face Support

When a tooth is too broken to fill, prosthodontics at Dental Castle rebuilds it — or replaces what is missing — so you can chew without thinking.

Fillings have a limit. When too much tooth is gone, the remaining walls flex and crack. When teeth are missing, cheeks sink, speech changes, and you start cutting food into tiny pieces. Prosthodontics is the craft of putting chewing back: crowns, bridges, dentures, and teeth that sit on implants.

Crowns

A crown is a cap that covers the whole visible tooth. We use them after large fractures, after root canals, and when a tooth is worn flat. Shade and shape are matched to neighbours. Two or three visits are typical: prepare and record, then cement. You leave with a temporary so you are never without a tooth in the smile zone.

Bridges

A bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining to teeth on either side. It is a good option when those neighbours already need crowns. If neighbours are perfect, we often discuss an implant instead so we do not grind healthy enamel. Honesty about that choice is part of the consult.

Dentures — partial and complete

When several or all teeth are gone, a well-made denture restores lip support and lets you eat more than soup. Fit takes patience: impressions, try-ins, and adjustments. Loose dentures that click when you talk can often be improved; sometimes implants underneath (overdentures) are the stability you have been missing.

Implant-supported crowns and bridges

If bone and gums allow, implant teeth feel closer to natural chewing. They do not decay, but the gums around them still need cleaning. We plan these with the surgical side of the clinic so the tooth and the root are one story.

How long do crowns last?

Many last a decade or more. Grinding, sticky sweets, and skipping checks shorten that. A small chip can often be polished or repaired; a loose crown should be recemented quickly so decay does not start underneath.

Will a denture look obvious?

A rushed denture can. We take time on tooth position and gum shade so the smile belongs to your face. Tell us what you disliked about an old set — too bulky, too white, too loose — so we do not repeat it.

Bring old X-rays if you have them
